Journals of Alexander Hamilton

There are a number of different formats within this series. The diaries relating to his involvement in the Peninsular Wars start with an entry per day but become progressively more narrative in style and therefore more difficult to date. As there are later amendments it would appear that Hamilton may have considered publishing them. They are mostly paper bound volumes with some loose inserts and from HAL/2/5/18-59 they are in a similar narrow format. After he returns from the Peninsular War he keeps printed diaries, then diaries ruled into entries and finally narrative style journals. This section also includes the journals he kept of his dreams.

Journal of Alexander Hamilton: Notes [No 11]

Journal entries from 10th November to 20th December 1806. There then follows an account of his voyage on a troop transport in the South Atlantic Ocean from 16th January to 14th February. No year is given so it could have been 1807 but was not written up in the notebook until 1815 according to a note at the end. At the rear of the volume are meteorological observations for 1806, data from a journey to Paris 1800-1801 and notes on the dates of birth of his family.
